We are based in Newport News and Yorktown, VA and have been servicing clients for over 10 years. Our focus is simple, produce products and results that fit each and every individual client. Each project is approached by first fully understanding the needs and requirements as desired by the client or business. We will be highlighting our area market and other business partners with our upcoming publications and newsletters. Marilen attended Sweet Briar College where she earned her Bachelors in Arts. She later went on to become a talent both in front and behind the lens as a performer and photographer. She received further education at UCLA, TVI Studios (Los Angeles) and the New York Institute of Photography. She is a proud member of the PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS OF AMERICA and keeps on top of the market by continuing her education and keeping her skills sharp and innovative. MOJO Dance Fitness was created by Marilen Sarian to service the Hampton Roads area with truly creative, fun, and out-of-the-boring-ballroom dance instruction others have experienced before. This "twist" is hotter than the overly mechanical way of teaching... the goal is to get you moving through your body and soul. There is no other because this MOJO is original to Marilen and has been brewed from over 10 years of Professional Dance Experience. Biography Marilen is a graduate of Sweet Briar College where she self-designed her Bachelors Degree to include Dance, Theatre, Music and Psychology. Post Graduate studies have taken her to UCLA & TVI Studios (Los Angeles, CA) and New York City. She studied under Mark and Ella Magruder of the Menagerie Dance Company where she learned the fine art of choreography. Other instructors include Petrus Bosman (Former Artistic Director of the VSA and former principal dancer at The Royal Ballet) who taught her the form and grace that would keep her balanced yet unique in her craft. Upon graduation, she was recruited to train under Veronica Braun (Director for River City Ballroom Dance Competition) and started working as an instructor in for Dance Masters Studios in Richmond & Colonial Heights, VA. Her family transfered to Hampton Roads in 2003, where she began her independent instruction at area studios. She helped the inception of the Ballroom Dance Society at Christopher Newport University and is the ballroom dance coach at Thomas Nelson Community College and Menchville High School. Menchville High School is Marilen's Alma Mater and she was a member of the inaugural year of the Ballroom Dance Club at MHS which is the longest running ballroom dance club in any high school in the nation. It is a true joy that her experience has come full circle to now be the instructor at the place that stared her love of dance. Currently, Marilen is the professional instructor for Fords Colony in Williamsburg and teaches ZUMBA for the YMCA. Her specialty in helping beginners and couples learn how to dance keeps her in demand throughout Hampton Roads. teacher ever! In only 5 classes, we were able to learn all of the foxtrot steps and create our own routine for the first dance at our Wedding. All of our guests were so impressed! They said we looked like professionals. And, I am so glad you taught us to hold the poses a little longer than usual because they were perfect photo opportunities. You were a great teacher, very kind and patient. Not only was it a learning experience but it brought us even closer together.
